Hi I’m Nylda, Welcome to The Architectural Experiment!
We plan, my plans, floor plans
A Part 2 Architectural Graduate (Finally!) inspired by the human condition and the way this shapes how we interact with the built environment. But also a writer at heart ever since I could remember, I believe we are all storytellers and that the spaces we surround ourselves in (whether by choice or by fate) each help us to tell the story of our experiences about the things that brings us fulfilment, and that we are far more connected than we are different.
The Architectural Experiment?
There is a lot to learn. A lot. Especially, if you want to be an architect in the UK. 7 years to be exact. So I can’t call myself an architect just yet. I haven’t found something online that quite tells us (Pre- Architects) how this field works. I’m hoping that the articles I share will give you greater insight on what this journey tends to look like. And some of the work I do end up producing, if you are interested.
It has only been 5 years, but there is so much I have learnt (and have tonnes more to learn) that I don’t think gives justice to what we (as students and professionals) actually do. If you had asked me what an architect does 4 years ago I would have told you they design buildings because that is what most of us understand about it. But there is so much more that is encompassed, so many skills - life skills that would be difficult to find elsewhere.
Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world.

When I was younger I wanted to make the world a better place. And when I chose to pursue architecture I would constantly question whether I was really helping people. The beautiful thing about this industry is that it is a service, one that if we better understand it, can be used to better ourselves in our search to better the world around us. So by sharing with you what it’s actually like to have been a student, I hope that I can answer the questions you once had that only an architectural student would have the answer to. There is so much I have learnt from others, and I hope that whatever has brought value to my experience thus far on this journey may do the same for you.
